You're really glossing over the "He killed thousands of people" and "there's no legal recourse" parts. Nobody cares about you because you're not legally murdering thousands of people. Among other reasons nobody cares about you.

No, they're proposing that if a CEO can murder thousands of people and the law does nothing about it, then people have no choice but to take justice into their own hands.

That gives you the percentage of the total value of property you own and then you have to pay that percentage of revenue the government demands. Weird system, but it means if everybody's property value drops (or raises) everybody's tax burden remains the same.

Not where I live. Our property taxes (DE) are determined by the proportional value of our property relative to the total value of property. The government sets revenue to be raised at X dollars, then your house's property value Y is divided by the total value of property value Z.

Depends on what time it is. Night, dark. Day, light.

They are still the territory of the host country, they just have certain privileges and protections.

It is not literally setting foot in another country. While embassies or consulates have certain rights and protections, they are a part of the host country, not the home country.

Oh dear, now I'm crying! :)

You can't expect someone whose income derives from farmer's rents on their land to marry someone who merely has their income derive from their coal mines, can you? It's uncouth!

There's a tendency to make contemporary ones tacticians too. I keep seeing people saying "This is a distraction from ___," and it's like... No. It's just another awful thing they've wanted to do.

Local officers standing up against ICE would not erode public trust, it would strengthen it.

It's in the fridge.
January 23, 2026 at 7:16 PM
Yeah. The stuff like using a child as bait to lure their parents out of a house or eating at a restaurant and arresting the people who served you food is just worse than "wrong." It's sin. Blemishes the soul, if you believe in such things. Not politics, but an affront to humanity.

If someone could explain this one for me, I'd appreciate it.

Back in February I invested heavily in European defense stocks when it became evident Trump wasn't going to back NATO. I honestly did not expect them to perform this well.

Operation Petticoat?

Arguably non-Denmark.

Lufttäuschen would be "air deception," and you could modify that to luftenttäuschen to mean both the reveal of air deception and the emotional response to it.

In a sentence:
"Das Empanada hat mich luftenttäuscht"

The problem with this narrative of a weak and defenseless Denmark is NATO. The alliance, sans America, maintains 2.5m men under arms, 2.5k combat aircraft, 6.6k tanks, 6 aircraft carriers, and over five hundred nuclear warheads. International cooperation turns a minor nation into a giant.

America by obliging us to defend them. As a part of this belief, they've set their sights on Greenland, an allied territory of significant strategic interest to the US. America already had access to the island, of course, but the administration wants direct ownership and Denmark is small and weak...
