Congratulations to all who fought for it and the present and future artists of all sorts in Ireland. That includes me 👌We’re just comin to the end of a 3 year pilot scheme. It’s been a roaring success. For every €1 paid out to the 2000 participants, the government got €1.46 back. Can’t argue with that. Other countries are already taking note."

Oh another hot take, everyone talks about how to keep readers of MG/YA gns as they age out. But the discussion always ignores that a lot of those gns are contemporary stories (not SFF). So until we have a decent selection of adult contemporary stories they will keep aging out.

-Floppies are a dumb system that creates a ton of waste.

-Month by Month comics are unfair to the creators and often end with artists rushing.

-The page rate for most publishers is abysmal.

-Comics are one of the most difficult kinds of art to create, and every single one of them is a miracle.

- We need cheaper printed black and white comics for the love of god
- Comics for adults could do crazy numbers if they actually had support, pubs are leaving money on the table
- Prose authors shouldn't be hired to write comics based on prose chops alone
- Cartoonists should be paid 700x more
