Since it’s all just running stitch, I don’t use a hoop. I bought stencils and use a water-soluble pen to transfer the design. There is thread made specifically for sashiko, but #8 Perle cotton works great too. Easy peasy!

I’ve been all about sashiko embroidery on dish towels for the past couple months. It’s meditative, so it calms my mind, plus I have something useful when I’m done. Highly recommend.
