As I recall, someone back then guessed that it was awarded in the hope that Obama would strive to actually earn it.

Not as surprising as it sounds. The far right don't have consistent beliefs, they just shop around for the most convincing ones. I guess they can sort of believe them in the moment, but at their next breath they're ready to pick another.

What we celebrate is that brief moment where the year is done for, but the new one hasn't quite started yet.

This challenges my beliefs as an atheist

I don't believe in survivorship bias. When I buy a random old LP because I like the cover, the music is more appealing than newer music on the radio. There's no natural law saying that the time you happen to live in is superior to past ones in every way. Believing so is chronological snobbery.

itch.io refuses to make public which game contain AI (the devs has to tell if their game has AI but this info isn't public.) For this reason, I'm not so keen on buying new games. A shame, because I think the gaming scene is pretty good, or would be if not for AI.

The thing is, if this was all she did, there would have been no article defending her. It is the racism itself they seek to protect. Their logic seem to be that they place racism in the intentionally vague category "views" and thus make racism seem as something valuable, deserving protection.

A bit weird, I think, to be this self-righteous about your self-proclaimed Transcendent Meaning™.

its always so sad, to aim for something you doesn't even care for, in order stay safe, and then don't even getting that. 3/3

because they couldn't imagine that time woud change and their privous beliefs would paint them as monsters. And that short after time would change again.
We don't know the future. And aiming for something secure, like law school, who the heck knows—maybe it IS secure, but 2/3

He might be right. Then again, in my youth, I had no idea "personal computers", yet alone scifi stuff like "the internet" or "smartphones" were going to be a thing. And the notion that US would run an international torture program was insane. And when the US did, people happily supported it .. 1/3

I'm drunk; I'm perfectly sure this post makes sense when I'm sober.

Spot on! Both US political flavours are far-right, but one even more so. And this noodle-brain think that "voted-for-both-parties" is somehow neutral.
