In The Language of African Literature, I thought it was sad to read that if you were caught speaking Gikuryu in the school the punishment would be 3 - 5 strokes with a cane on their butt, or made to carry a metal plate around their neck saying "I am stupid" or " I am a Donkey". #bsuwlit

I found it funny that at the beginning of the story, they talk about how he hasn't seen her in years because he went away, and the first thing she asks him is if they actually turn into ghosts or not. #bsuwlit

I don't have many thoughts yet, but so far in the first four chapters of Nervous Conditions, I think I like this book more than Death of the King's Horseman. I am interested to read more. #bsuwlit

" I don't say that. I found your people quite admirable
in many ways, their conduct and courage in this war for
instance." I particularly found this comment from Olunde comical. You could really tell that he didn't want to offend Jane. #bsuwlit

I am coming to understand that "Death and The King's Horseman" may be a little more of a complex read than I originally thought. I wonder if anyone else thinking the same. #bsuwlit
