Unpopular opinion:
Signing up your teen to take an SAT on a Saturday just to "see how your teen does" is a waste of money.
Instead, have them spend that Saturday morning and $68 wisely by preparing AT LEAST 8 weeks in advance.

I’ve been in college planning for 15 (wild!) years now.
You know what mistake almost every parent makes (that no one realizes is a mistake???)

UT Austin had a huge increase in applications this year. Their response for the reason? Applications provide evidence that they're awesome. Every time a college announces that their quality corresponds to their ranking and application increases, Mean Girls and popularity contests come to mind:
