These fruitcake bar cookies are what I call a legacy recipe from my aunt Erma Godfrey. I had forgotten about them but a few years ago my brother made some and gave me the recipe. Now we both make them at Christmas time.

The temperature is rising and our snow is melting. Precipitation is forecasted for every day between tomorrow and Christmas Day but not much of it is going to be snow. Bah Humbug - if I could give us a foot of snow I would. My action plan - pull out some more Christmas decorations.

There is snow outside and more on the way so I added a few touches of holiday decor to my home. 🏡

Made two trips to and from Middlebury today. On the way home the first time we experienced a snow flurry. A couple hours later there was no precipitation.

We lived in South Burlington,VT
just off Spear Street in the then brand new Overview Condo Complex for the first few years after we married. It looked pretty driving past there today. It reminded me how spoilt we were having lake views way back then in the mid 1980s.

Lunch today at the Windjammer restaurant. What a nostalgic treat. I think it is where I ate before moving into my first dorm room at UVM in the fall of 1977.

Baking 👩🍳 As I was mixing the butter, sugar, and eggs I thought maybe another egg would make the ratio of protein compared to fat and carbs a little healthier. Yes they turned out more cake like but still nice. Sliced in half horizontally and spread with some cream cheese is pretty tasty too.
