Oof. Crikey. Didn’t know about that four week deadline…

My heart hurts for these kids. We missed the cut for the old service - four years and counting on the waiting list - but she will age out and we have been lucky enough in the meantime to access excellent private care.

Isn’t it a joy?

Very good. I know this state! It’s also a great seratonin boost….

She’s probably equally terrified!

They’re gorgeous (although the French boulangerie butter levels are slightly overwhelming for me). OH made one for Sunday dessert and we finished it last night.

Ah, these would be solutions looking for a problem, yes?

He was French to his bones. He’s buried in the Abbaye de Fontevraud with his parents and *sister-in-law* which is slightly weird.

As a young academic, he should research it thoroughly.

I don’t blame him.

Are there little feline footprints to appreciate or is the kingdom being surveyed from a position of warmth?

We have put the heating on remotely, very low but enough to keep pipes happy, as the gite (third bedroom) was at 1C yesterday.

It doesn't... there is no way to distribute on Bookshop as an indie writer / publisher. My trad published books will be available there, but not my fiction. We rely on print on demand and live events and ebooks and audiobooks. I really have tried to set this up but unless things have changed...

*bookshop, I mean. And I’ve tried but I’d need to be a shop…

And Kobo et al, for us indies that aren’t on Bookseller.

We had a new one once, on finance, and drove it into the ground over the course of 13 years. I bought my current one when it was a year old, 14 years ago, still going strong at 135k miles (would have been finance but I splurged a legacy).

Coco beans!
January 5, 2026 at 11:52 AM
I think I’ve got one of those…

Great business model... Spreading the risk... I mean this is almost an investment round they're crowdsourcing.
January 4, 2026 at 1:17 PM
That's a hard no... Sounds more like a kickstarter is required!
January 4, 2026 at 1:12 PM
Microclimate there. Palm trees in a few years like Oban?
January 4, 2026 at 12:45 PM
Not that young (I was 26), but I’m getting close to my first age-up and very aware of how my perspective on life values is warping as if approaching a black hole.
January 4, 2026 at 10:08 AM
Isn't he marvellous!
January 3, 2026 at 12:55 PM
That’s a surprise!
