Totally — I’ve even started making my own DIY workbooks to help students break down arguments and evidence. I think I’m going to make those a larger percentage of the grade to incentivize this kind of thinking and reflection.

In 1974, William F. Buckley, Jr., approved the transition of WNCN in NY from classical music to progressive rock. He proposed to move classical music service to a noncommercial station (the FCC denied it). I had not heard about this, and it was definitely not something I was expecting to find....

I finally found the list I've been seeking of the 88 NPR charter members. I mapped the data and added demarcations for public universities. While not surprising, it shows how public radio was built on infrastructure and investment by public higher education. www.google.com/maps/d/u/0/e...

The introduction (which is a long intro) of Peter Coclanis's Shadow of a Dream has an architectural analysis of Charleston, exploring how the inequality he explores in the system of rice cultivation is built into the city. (I might be skewing the details a bit, as it's been a while)

I recently found my first research paper for grad school, and it wasn't pretty. It was about the Velvet Underground and had quite a, uh, pedestrian argument. It was not as bad as I feared, at least!
