Yes, US is less vulnerable to Middle Eaat oil shocks than it once was, due to production and electrification. But CA is an islanded gasoline mkt quite dependent on Saudi Arabia. www.semafor.com/newsletter/0...

These pictures could be from the Kent State massacre 55 years ago -- National Guard in full riot gear facing off against protesters exercising a fundamental Constitutional right to express opinion and outrage. Praying it does not end the same way. www.nytimes.com/2025/06/08/u...

Really excited about this online convening May 19-20 to better understand the contemporary challenges and opportunities of Democratic governance in blue trifectas. Important for housing, climate, inflation, and so much more -- especially today! Register: t.co/Pm4bIJHn1O

Of all the things I’ve done in my career, I’m perhaps proudest of the many students, staffers, and other young professionals I’ve convinced to go into public service.

Last week, most of them were fired.

Pounding the pavement and getting out the vote in rural WI this weekend! Touched/humbled by the level of knowledge and thoughtfulness of these voters. I credit good public schools.

Friends! Sorry I've been MIA as I ramp up at CA FWD. Here's a piece I just published for Carnegie CA, arguing for "place-based" policy approaches to energy transition--not just climate policy but econ & community development policy as well. Enjoy!

Oh for sure. But when it comes to regulations over multinational corporations, it's good to strive for consistency. In this case, the SEC got their rules out first and the CA implementation isn't funded...so it may be smart to focus on learning from actual SEC impact as we build the CA version.

By the way I'm not entirely sure why posting this resulted in cutting off my head. Trust me, I do still have a head. You can see it in person if you come to Merced next week!

Thanks for reposting! I think it's hilarious that my head is not visible in this picture. I promise I do have a head, which you can see if you join us in Merced. 😜
