💯

People either knowingly reverse those two things (for propaganda's sake) or they're ignorant of the history.

I do recognize that AI has potential to do great things for humanity. It is its sinister applications already used against humanity that have me weary.

Ugh. I'm unfollowing you for an hour for ruining my day. You know what a punctuation geek I am, lol.

This book dives in re: how Palestine provides the Israeli military-industrial complex a place/people to test weapons & to refine systems of control, surveillance & repression. Then they're sold to various governments/regimes, including authoritarian ones, for use in suppressing dissent & more.

That is the key. When companies and governments choose not to do the right thing--we the people still can.

Never believe that a group of thoughtful, committed citizens can't change the world. For, indeed, that's all who ever have.

It's unclear (imagine that) if all the strikes have been in international waters. If any were in territorial waters, no one would bring forth a potential case while the current regime is in office (they might strike the Netherlands in response)--but there is no statute of limitations on war crimes.

Russia is not a state party to the Rome Statute either, but the ICC issued a warrant for Putin's arrest for war crimes because they occurred in the territory of a member state, Ukraine. This would apply as well to any crime perpetrated in a member state's territorial waters (v. internat'l waters).

It's good for my soul to hear that you got that dissertation. Not a lot of that going on at the moment (things good for my soul).

As a war crimes investigator, I should have known better (considering the character limit) than to comment on a war crimes post, lol. I'm going to have to resist in the future.

In any event, our common ground: we agree these acts are unlawful.
December 3, 2025 at 4:22 AM
The key here is that there is not one iota of wiggle room for legal maneuvering w/the 2nd strike. In addition to US domestic law(s), international law is clear: anyone who is shipwrecked, wounded, or surrendering is protected & deliberately killing them is a war crime of wilful killing or murder.
December 3, 2025 at 4:01 AM
It's actually both. A declared war is not a requirement for an act to be a war crime--just an armed conflict (which applies even when only one side is armed/killing). Based solely on public info, these acts are both war crimes & extrajudicial executions (formal way of saying state-sponsored murder).
