Awful news from Wales, the St Fagan's Museum has been broken into and prehistoric goldwork has been taken. Its painful to think what objects might now be at risk. Thoughts with the museum team who must be devastated, all speed to the police and a curse on the crooks.

We academic types like to think of our jobs as our callings, but just remember: a university is your workplace and your employer. It is not your family or your saviour. We trade our labour for pay like anyone else. Love what you *do*, but remember: institutions can't love you back.

I'm finishing up a short essay for @thesowhat.bsky.social about how I went from being a dude with a super-niche history dissertation to being The Surprised Eel Historian.

And friends...it will never not be wild to me that frickin' TIME wrote about me and my work.

Oh, I was also double-paying into the system by paying into NI through my paychecks and also paying an immigration surcharge to access health care, while having an state-issued immigrant ID card which said 'NO ACCESS TO PUBLIC FUNDS'

Under Labour's plan, I wouldn't qualify for my ILR because I spent the first five years on my work visa in a new career, where I spent most of my time [checks notes] educating young adults.

New paper. Recording the female experience of UK archaeology 1990-2010. Anne Teather and I document how an industry EDI agenda evolved in the 1990s and was dismantled, uncovering the ramifications of that for women archaeologists over the next decade.

Here is your friendly occasional reminder that as a Tier 4 then Tier 2 immigrant, I could not access any benefits (and this was printed specifically on my visa), could not vote in any UK election (not even local council), and paid an NHS charge with the amount linked to the length of my visa.

Hey. Psst. Y’all are rad. Hydrate your skeletons. Take your meds. Check your posture. Have a snack.

Whatever you need to do today/tonight, I believe in you. No matter how big or small it may be. I hope the week brings joy, relief, laughter, success, coziness. You got this.
