Could you help us out? We're looking for German post election surveys including state elections - any pointers very welcome! See full details below - thank you

Hey everyone, I am looking for homogenized data on *post-electoral* surveys in Germany. We would need them for federal, EU, and ideally also state elections—but anything you can help with is very much welcome!

Anyone know of a single dataset including them for several elections? Thanks so much!

Does copying the radical right's "tough" anti-immigration rhetoric pay off? No! Our new pre print provides evidence that Starmer's anti-immigration speech did not benefit Labour - with important implications for mainstream parties across Europe. Thread below ⬇️
katharinalawall.bsky.social
🚨New pre-print with @versteegenluca.bsky.social and @mtsakiris.bsky.social on emotions and polarization ⬇️ We often intuitively think that affective polarization (AP) is about strong negative emotions, e.g. fear & loathing. But how do citizens actually feel? Spoiler: not as negative as assumed!
versteegenluca.bsky.social
🚨Pre-print alert🚨

Research shows citizens in many Western democracies are increasingly affectively polarized––they feel warm toward their own party but quite cold toward opposing parties.

But how does it feel to “feel warmly”?
@katharinalawall.bsky.social, @mtsakiris.bsky.social & I asked.

It was great to speak at the launch of POAL - I shared some insights about negative partisanship, and how hostility in politics relates to women disproportionately dropping out of elected office. Thank you @miriamsorace.bsky.social for creating this space, excited for what's next!

Some snapshots from our event on Friday, where we discussed the future of polling, the challenges ahead, and how AI is shaping survey research. Massive THANK YOU to all panelists for sharing their wisdom with us! Here’s a thread with some key take-aways:

With Trump's victory, the need for a fresh UK-EU strategy has never been more urgent. Check out my latest piece in the Conversation on "Bresignation" and how the UK can re-configure the UK-EU relationship: shorturl.at/VyDYw #polisky #UKEUReset
Bresignation: British people are ready to turn a page on the EU referendum vote
The British public has moved beyond wanting to relitigate the Brexit referendum, making now a good time to reset relations with Brussels.

🌤️So is it all doom and gloom? No! While echo chambers polarize, even a half-an-hour conversation with people from the other party can reduce polarization. Interventions that encourage cross-partisan discussion, however limited, may be key to ameliorating partisan animosity. 7/n
katharinalawall.bsky.social
We also show results by partisanship. These reveal that echo chambers only significantly increase affective polarization among Labour partisans. This finding may be explained by incumbency dynamics  6/n
katharinalawall.bsky.social
We also find that echo chambers increase policy polarization. Being assigned to discuss in a homogeneous group, compared to a mixed group, entrenches partisans’ policy views. Conservatives become even more in favour of the policy, while Labour partisans become more opposed to it. 5/n
katharinalawall.bsky.social
We find that being assigned to discuss in a partisan echo chamber, compared to a mixed group, increases affective polarization by around 5 points, or a quarter of a standard deviation.➡️ Echo chambers polarize! 4/n
katharinalawall.bsky.social
We test the effect of echo chambers on polarization using a large-scale pre-registered “lab-in-the-field” experiment in the UK, randomly assigning partisans to discuss a salient policy issue in either a mixed partisan group or a homogeneous group 3/n
katharinalawall.bsky.social
Partisan polarization is of increasing concern across the world. What causes polarization? We examine the argument that partisan “echo chambers” – people surrounded by likeminded partisans – fuel polarization  2/n
katharinalawall.bsky.social
🚨Do echo chambers polarize? Yes! 🚨Very excited that our paper “The Polarizing Effect of Partisan Echo Chambers” w @sarahobolt.bsky.social and James Tilley has been published FirstView at APSR! Link: www.cambridge.org/core/journal... Thread 👇1/n
