I've spent the last ten years or so carving pumpkins to reflect what I've been watching, reading or listening to that year.

If you are part of a majority group, Cis, and you are celebrating life being made harder for a minority group, Trans, then that is transphobia.

It is projecting your hegemonic societal view and excluding those minority groups who don't fit.

It is cruel.

The push for fairness and equality didn't go 'too far' - and nor did progressives get their tactics wrong. What changed was that a tiny number of white men didn't like how the world was changing - and spent billions changing it back.

Today I met a very senior dog called Bert and he was a very good boy. My morning was all the better for meeting him.

First line in my new years resolution bingo completed! Now I get to book a day off work and replace those four challenges with four new things to do!

A few months ago I realised that, as a middle aged woman, I had become invisible. People barged into me on pavements, just ignored me. I tried an experiment and started wearing bright, unusual clothes and magically people could see me again. They would step aside instead of walking through me.

And just in case anyone isn't sure - if you want to compliment someone, do so about something they've chosen. Their sweater, their hat, something they have chosen to do. Not on weight loss unless they have specifically told you they've been trying to do so!
