Came home and listened to the soundtrack. Immense. Must have been even better in IMAX.

The Best of Everything by @kitdewaal.com

“Paulette is mighty. She is righteous. She has heartbreak and grief and loss on her side.”
Paulette will stay with me.
A story of kindness, and its consequences.

This line broke me for a bit-
“He nods and smiles. ‘He’s mine’ he says.”

Gorgeous.

Spinal Tap II is really fun!
See it in the cinema while it’s still on…
All the familiar faces and great additions of Kerry Godliman and @mrchrisaddison.bsky.social
Anyone know the significance of the Leyton Orient flag in the cheese shop? Asking for a husband.
Spinal Tap II poster, three aging men on top of Stonehenge, lightning

Hurrah!
Have been looking forward to this- we were there but in the choir seats so only saw from behind… (excellent view of the Jules Buckley’s percussion section though, was fascinating!)

Throughly enjoyed this last night.
Special mention for the new Ortiz, which was gorgeous.
The Royal Festival Hall is such a great venue and the staff are delightful.
Do check out the Philharmonia’s 80th birthday season!
See you in November…

Mackenzie Crook is pure class.

Interesting. I wonder whether the experience depends on where one went to school? As a state school pupil at Castle, I had never felt so out of place. And there was no support whatsoever. I hope things are changing.

Have you read The Misadventures of Margaret Finch by Claire McGlasson? Set in Blackpool 1938, Margaret works for Mass Observation. I really enjoyed it!

I would go as far as to say inevitable 😢?!

Another masterpiece.

Love this tidbit from Mojo’s fantastic oral history of Rocky Horror
RO'B [Robert O’Brien]: It was exciting, to see how we could get around problems. [Brad and Janet's science teacher] Dr. Scott burst through the wall simply because we forgot we didn't have a door.

Absolutely to all this. The setting was wrong, the script was bad and the essence of the books was missing.

My favourite watch of this year has been The Ballad of Wallis Island, not streaming but available to buy, it’s warm and uplifting and funny. Just thought of it as someone compared the feel of it to Detectorists…

And Bookish with Mark Gatiss, I think that it is on Netflix? Set in 1946, Mr Book sells books but also has a letter from Churchill that allows to work with the police as a consulting detective….

Sometimes reading is not the answer! Have you tried Here We Go? - it’s a proper family sitcom, warm, funny, great cast. BBC iPlayer has three series. Hope you find something to distract you.

Wish I could have come! So glad you were all able to celebrate this wonderful film.

In case you missed it, our guests for the live show on Saturday are the wonderful Tim Key and Tom Basden, stars/writers of my favourite film of the year, THE BALLAD OF WALLIS ISLAND. So, if you’re coming on Saturday and you haven’t seen it, now’s your chance to rectify that.
