I’m a bit late but it’s still January, so new year new profile picture!

I have a habit of updating across platforms to help keep in touch with people. This year is different.

As Silicon Valley loses its mind it felt more like an “in memoriam” than anything else.

It’s not just TikTok that’s dying.

The UK is within spitting distance of having more murders portrayed annually on TV shows and movies set in the country than occur in real life

It's so incredible how low homicide rates are in Europe. The UK, with a population of 70 million people, had fewer than 600 murders in 2023.

You’re single handedly bringing a Twitter moment to Bluesky.

To my understanding everyone has been doing this for awhile.

Mine makes dinner most nights and does almost all the laundry. I do most of the tidying and deep cleaning.

I'm most at peace with them around: we like the same shows, foods, and we both spend a lot of time working on our own projects.

Been living with them since 2008 (though we did 4 years LD).

How lovely. When I see dawn's rays peak through the curtain it means I've stayed up far too late 😂

Same sunrise, different experience

Violet’s been recognized as a youth advocate around Covid19 for years: using her platform to shine a light on those who are forgotten. She’s also spent her time at Yale to draw attention to the issue.

A nepo baby gains financially usually in the same field. I don’t see her parents in this space…

Very fair! The ability for the UK to absorb the water is also higher (even with our low biodiversity).

I do use the factoid primarily to jolt people out of thinking the South East is a “wet” place.

I literally did.

Have a good day

I’m not on blue sky to have fights. Doubling down when I have provided the name in my original post and the comments is your prerogative.

3D depiction of rainfall distribution across Great Britain.

England is a very dry place: London gets as much rain as Jerusalem.

With climate change, the south will need to prepare for even more acute water shortages.

Canada could do something really smart on Monday by launching round two of their application for H1-B visa holders and their families.

The H1-B visa application fee increasing from $1000 to $100,000 a year could be a win for Canada

- Start ups could move to afford talent
- Companies could expand satellite offices to keep talent
- More medical professionals to meet backlogs

Now US research institutes really need satellite campuses

I said the same thing. Move to Vancouver or Toronto.

I wonder how many companies will look to move to Canada. At this point it must be more economical
