The UCP could have avoided this strike. They could have addressed valid concerns about classroom conditions. They didn’t. Because it’s not about what’s best for kids.

The UCP government is more interested in directly blaming than fixing problems. They will lie, ignore the facts, and attack people - anything to avoid taking accountability for the problems they create or action to solve the problems albertans face.

We deserve a better government.

During the time the minimum wage was going up Alberta actually added jobs in low wage sectors.

We are in a cost of living crisis and workers can no longer afford the basics - rents are way up, food costs are through the roof, and these workers haven’t seen a raise in over 7 years. #ableg

Smith’s argument - that raising the minimum wage would increase youth unemployment - is illogical and ignores the facts.

Our minimum wage has been frozen for 7 years, had it been index to inflation it would be closer to $18.45. In that time youth unemployment has gone UP not down. #ableg

Alberta has the lowest minimum wage in the country.

Alberta has the highest youth unemployment in the country.

This is a very strong argument AGAINST the idea that raising the minimum wage increases youth unemployment.

The UCP is willing to spend millions of dollars A DAY to fight against better classroom conditions. How many EAs could they hire a year for one week of spending on this - because I bet it’s more than the 1500 EAs they offered.

The Justice Minister committed the interim report would be public - to be clear, the report will be woefully insufficient since the UCP control the evidence.

It’s the first day of school and my kid is so big!

It’s amazing how fast it happens! Our kids are turning into the people they are going to be and every experience will help form that. Which is why it is so important that we invest in them now.

But the UCP government isn’t. #AbLeg

I love being Canadian - and the verdict is in from Calgary-Mountain View, they agree. Folks are super concerned about the economic damage done to Montreal by the Quebec referendum. Montreal was the economic engine, not anymore. I don’t want the same for Calgary. #AbLeg
