curious about everything
Let's see, 438 km is 236.5 nautical miles. An EEZ is 200 nautical miles.
So, um, the Falkland Islands aren't even in Argentina's EEZ?
Am I missing something?

Shortly after the 2016 election I observed a friend I could think of one politician who had the empathy, intelligence, & policy chops to help appalachian miners survive the disappearance of coal w/ something better than teaching them to code (I forget who suggested THAT)
& that was Hilary Clinton.

I see how that might be the message, but it's *supposed* to be "don't lord it over people who don't have your education, but do use your special powers for the good of everyone around you."

You mean income *inequality* right?
Oh & also our8 health care system that doesn't really do universal health care.

It's usually contrasted w/ earlier scheduled counted in a more normal way. I once went through the exercise of counting every recommended vaccine from the 1960s or 1970s *the same way* w/ a ttfh antivaxxer who was in a particularly fair-minded mood & we got a number somewhere between 30 & 35.

Is it possible that we mammals evolved not so much to have cute babies as to think babies are cute? Or let's say instead evolved to become attached our own babies during their baby period (which in humans involves concepts like "cute" but would express itself differently in other species.

Yes, & thank heaven for AAP & for insurance companies being wise enough to realize they don't want to pay to treat preventable illness & for blue states,
but I'm a little worried about some red states. Idaho & Florida seem to have gone out of their collective minds. Other red states are worrisome.

OTOH my baby got a bee sting on his eyelid & fell asleep on the breast in <20min. I speculate breastmilk has some painkiller besides the sugar & cuddling (also a big part of it).
I've also wondered - sheer speculation - if there's a lactation hormone that helps you tolerate sleep deprivation.

I've seen a lot of parents say "ta-da!" after a minor fall for just this reason.

This is also true - & for many things. Toddlers usually look at their caregiver after falling to check how upset they should get about it. You get used to that little delay before the wailing starts.

Some do, some don't. Mine didn't - he never got a vax fever either. That made things easier for us all.
If you're breastfeeding it also helps to breastfeed as soon as the shot is over (they might have you wait 10min after oral RSV vax). I'm convinced there's a mild painkiller in breastmilk.

Do have the vet stab their rabies vaccine into the leg though.

My *ONLY* point was that being on the continental shelf off Argentina is not relevant to whether or not the Falklands are or should be considered part of Argentina's national territory.

Of course they are. I want disputing that.

The weird decision tree for policy-interested people:
A) It's either too boring that it's not usually worth watching because they're experts being reasonable and process-driven, or
B) It's too distressing to watch because it's a mix of kooks and people with ill intent doing policy that hurts people

Question:
In-patient drug rehab & in-patient psychiatric programs often deliberately limit contact w/ friends & family. Is this:
A) different, & supported by evidence?
B) a bad therapeutic approach which should be stopped?
C) different, but not well supported by evidence & so should be investigated?

I've interacted w/ a few that very clearly are NOT programmed to recognize anything like that.
My least favorite: the one that asks you a question, pauses, then tosses in another instruction. If you're talking when the extra instruction is delivered, Bad Stuff happens.

Russia?
I'm just making a minor point about continental shelves & the merits of proximity as a land argument.
OK, OTOH I know the continental shelf thing is more complicated for things like EEZ rights - it comes up as *PART* of the arguments between US & Canada over certain offshore fishing rights.

Um, how much do you about about the population movements of Europe prior to the British Empire?
Or prior to the Roman Empire for that matter?

Um, without claiming it was always a peaceful & respectful relationship, for a century the UK has recognized the Republic of Ireland which has the bulk of the largest island close to the UK. Ireland is 19km from the English coast.
Aren't the Falkland Islands 483km from mainland Argentina?

Um, wait.
There are lots of convincing arguments that Christmas is an invented holiday that has little to do w/ the origins or essence of christianity (& 16thC/17thC Puritans routinely made a lot of these arguments), but the holiday predates capitalism by, um, a lot.
