A few years ago, I bought what I thought was a Café au Lait Dahlia. I got it planted and it finally bloomed. It was red- I’ve never seen it in the store for sale since -so disappointing.

They are beautiful. I finally got two nice ones this year. Do you trim the plant, fertilize or talk to them? I need help please! I hope to have a lot of them growing the fruit next year.

Do you have them in a bee box with extra boxes above? We put out sugar water during the winter and sit next to where they go in and out of their hives and if there’s not enough nectar for them to find, they definitely are supplemented with the sugar water. Yes they overwinter in their nest.

They are yellowjackets. They are not honeybees and like meat -and go for food outside. You can see how they’re coming into the nest. Like are they going underground to the right, top, left or bottom and then when it’s dark you can spray the nest. Start 6 ft away cont spraying and walk closer.

Doing ok; the yard is looking a little neglected; some challenges with some kind of mole, eating roots and killing plants or squirrels or rats eating fruit/plants… but I love this time of year in the garden
