I’ve also restocked some of these old favourites - including peregrine Valentine’s cards (if you’re super-organised and planning ahead)

I’ve just added these new greeting cards to my Etsy shop. Both images were handmade linocuts designed by me - no AI slop here! katiefullerart.etsy.com

(the cards are not hand-printed, to retain my sanity and keep them affordable)

COLD but sunny today at @suffolkwildlife.bsky.social Lackford Lakes today. There was a green-winged teal that was attracting lots of attention, but the (much closer) Eurasian teals, lapwings, shovelers, wigeons etc were just much fun to watch.

I’ve finished my Fieldfare pochoir paintings and I have to say I’m really pleased with them! There are 8 paintings available and one is in someone’s Etsy basket already (!), so don’t miss out. katiefullerart.etsy.com/listing/4413...

It’s really fun adding ink with a bristly brush! Hopefully I can show you the end result later this week…

Here’s the Fieldfare pochoir update you’ve been waiting for. I cut a very fiddly stencil with lots of holes for black stripes and streaks. And it worked! I actually said “wow!” to myself.

Damp Fenland riverbank in mid-November, coots swimming past, great egret downstream, Cetti’s warbler. 7/10

The sun came out for a while today! And I got two more colours added to my Fieldfare pochoir.

If you see this, post your bird art.

It’s a very cheap stencilling brush

Strike while the iron is hot, they say! So I cut some more stencils and painted another colour.

I’m having another go at #pochoir - making paintings using hand-cut stencils. This is just the first layer with more colours to come (and then, I hope, the subject will become clear).

After watching a few YouTube videos on various techniques, I used some basic stencil brushes and Caligo Safe Wash printmaking ink that I had already. My stencil cutting could be improved but I’m looking forward to trying my next pochoir piece. Trying a new technique has helped new ideas to emerge

I felt like trying something new, so here’s my first-ever attempt at #pochoir, which is French for stencil. I cut my stencils from plastic leftover from packaging I received - I knew it would come in useful for something!

Got to make the most of the sunshine now. A bright (but really too warm for
November) walk near Lode Mill.

🐦‍⬛ ‘Just’ a few greeting cards going in the postbox tomorrow morning. Blackbirds seem to be popular! If you want to use a card as a cheap way of getting art on your wall, I’m very supportive of that! katiefullerart.etsy.com

Last week we did a different square nearby (that we also survey in spring) which is pasture, a noisy roadside verge and then a nice walk along a more wooded section of riverbank. Kingfishers and little grebes the highlights here. Many more birds here resulted in data entry that took much longer 😐

🚜 We have to record the farmland habitats we are surveying. Had trouble in one section working out if the farmer was actually *trying* to grow something, or if it was just fallow. It looked boring but that was where the Skylarks and Corn Buntings were!

☀️ Out bright and early (ish, aided by the clock change) this morning to do our second Winter Bird Survey square. It’s a mix of riverbank and farmland in the flatlands of Cambridgeshire.

The sun is out (!). I looked out of the window before going into the garden and a sparrowhawk flew in and perched briefly in our neighbour’s tree. Then once I was outside, a common darter was basking and flew up and landed on my shoulder! What will be the third lucky nature thing today? 🤔

This... this is why human artists are still needed – and should be valued! – in the age of "vintage linocut" AI bird slop 🤢

I’ve just added one of these riverside #linocut prints to my Etsy shop: katiefullerart.etsy.com/listing/4387... (and I’ll print some more soon)

🍂 They’re on their way! Here are some reduction #linocut prints of Bramblings that I made, using one block to print all the different colours. Handmade and limited edition original art: katiefullerart.etsy.com/listing/1370...

☁️ Another grey day, despite the sun we were promised in the forecast. Luckily the leaves are turning to provide some colour, while acorns crunched underfoot. Avian highlight: flyover Crossbill 🍂 Brampton Wood this morning.
