It is! Definitely recommend checking out their Discord. They have a monthly game jam with an amazing amount of resources and support. I signed up to play in a game later this month too if you want to roll dice with me again.

I recently parted ways with a new-ish client over them accusing me of using AI. After 20 years of writing including a trilogy that sold international rights, a movie novelization, a non-fiction licensed IP book, & countless games, I’m not willing to risk my career over one flippant remark like that.

There’s also less traits generally and a few other smaller changes that makes the stat blocks easier to read and manage in combat. Smaller battles have been very quick for me.

Just ran my first big boss battle using the D&D 2024 rules, & I’m a big fan of the streamlined stat blocks especially for spell casters. It was a fulfilling 2 hours that allowed me to also build narrative tension while not having to carry the mental load of too many options.

It's such a fun system. I don't know it well enough to run it yet but I definitely have goals to run the Lower Decks adventures on @startplaying.bsky.social at some point. This solo adventure might really help me better understand the rules through play at my own pace though. 🙏

I have been using Globe of Twilight in my home game (thanks to my DM @punkjr.bsky.social) and other magic users have combined their spells to create a new all-powerful entity in the region named Vrath Shol'ka the Thunder Cat who now also appears as my Spirit of Death avatar. 😅
