Trump’s order to deploy Texas National Guard troops to Chicago is illegal, immoral, and must be stopped by the courts. ICE is already wreaking havoc in our communities. Let’s call this what it is: an invasion by out-of-state troops coming here only with the purpose of tormenting Chicagoans.

KIYAC — our campaign’s Youth Advisory Council — organized a coat drive and car wash this weekend. We now have more than 80 coats on our mutual aid shelves in the campaign office!

But we need your help to make sure we’re prepared to help the community this winter.

Here’s what we need:

Mutual Aid Wishlist (UPDATED 10/6)

TOTALLY OUT: condoms, weather-resistant boots
RUNNING LOW: shampoo, conditioner, covid tests, men’s shoes
UNIQUE NEED: coats, winter gear, blankets, fleece fabric (to make no-sew blankets)

Every performance is unbelievably good (especially the lawyer and nurse who had maybe three lines each?? You’ll get what I mean).

Also the way PTA ties white supremacy to escalating violence and shows how community-building + solidarity will triumph over both is just… so prescient.

I’m horrified by Trump’s order to send 300 National Guard troops to Chicago. We’re only nine months into a four year term and already the president is trying to invade an American city. If you’re in the Guard, you can and should refuse these orders.
