I personally have enjoyed the switch, but I guess look more into your particular software needs and test the open source equivalents onto a test boot drive. Ypu can even just use a regular ol usb stick. Lets ya play with it without making a big scary commitment. If ya hate it then no harm!

Not trying to be one of those obnoxious Linux people but Mint is v similar to like Windows 7 in a lot of ways and isn't the hardest jump in the world if you are already a v regular PC user. Even many steam games work will with the Proton compatibility stuff. Only problem with Linux is online games
