I can't speak meaningfully on the 3D Metroid games as I've only played through Prime 1. I just wish they'd stop dragging their feet on their half of the 2D Metroidvania genre. It's low-hanging fruit that they're letting rot on the vine.

With the way the Siege ones fit together (and if they weren't thirty bucks or more each) you could make a robot-extruder like the droid carrier in Phantom Menace.

Look at it from the other direction for the Decepticons. Where the minicars all go from the same basic humanoid form factor to a wide variety of cars and vehicles, instead the minicassettes change from nearly identical rectangles into a wide variety of little guys and critters.
