Tbh I saw that person’s post this morning and thought I was interested in the data behind it but if his subsequent posts were as poorly written as that one, it would not be as informative as I hoped. Oh well.

Unhoused people and migrants are both vulnerable populations and as such, I think a lot of people in this space feel defensive of them. It’s unfortunate the person chose those words.

I see what you’re saying. I think the parenthetical is the specific part people are taking issue with. Obviously I can’t say for sure but if that had been left out, I don’t think people would have responded the same way.

If people read something I wrote and said, hey I think this implies something I did not mean to imply, I would try to express my ideas better, not tell all of them that they’re wrong 🤷🏻♀️

You say that such framing cannot exist well in social media but you just succinctly demonstrated how one could blame something on migrants when it would be more accurate to blame it on migration.

The second part seems especially problematic as it implies that asylum seekers should have set up housing in the US. Moreover affordable housing construction has not kept pace with demand and it seems like that’s more of an underlying issue than who needs said housing.
