Agreed, I can't think of many scenarios where I don't keep my thumb on the stick and just release pressure to return to neutral. It would have to be a game with an esoteric and unusual use of analog sticks for that. Plus in a context where this bounce-back actually matters in-game? Seems unlikely...

I almost mentioned Fortnite's takeover of PUBG, but character limit made me leave it out.

I think it's still possible to dethrone Tarkov, I've witnessed tons of negative sentiment about the developer and it's a relatively new genre that probably has room for some genre-evolving ideas still. I don't think it's quite the same situation yet as MMOs vs. WoW.
