There's evidence that pig-power has been used for transportation...

I'd suspect that installing it on a supported distro (Ubuntu/Debian and Fedora) with a stock kernel; just following the instructions should spark joy.

(I merely had to recompile a kernel multiple times while playing a merry game of "guess the config options". And swearing.)

At least you haven't encountered anything bad about Mullvad. And you can add me to the 'happy with' list.

What problems I had are entirely related to using Gentoo - The Distro for Masochists™. That and I include only what's needed in kernel builds; Mullvad needed some extra stuff.

While we're on the subject, do you have an opinion on Mullvad VPN (no free option, seems inexpensive)?

I've beaten it into submission on four Gentoo Linux systems, in part as I couldn't get Proton to work properly on my firewall/router and I wasn't sure I could use the free one on four systems.

Oh no.

Another rabbit hole.

Do I need another rabbit hole..?

(Yes.)

May I introduce you to Big Clive..?

He obtained a Presto Hot Dogger; this is how I discovered it existed...

I think it works over the 'net, too. Somehow.

I sometimes think of Bertie as "Bertles" and I have absolutely no idea why or where it came from...

Yeah, yeah. I know. I need to take the laptop apart and power-wash the display panel.

It wasn't all that great when I got it, tbh.

Need a Yellow Duster™..?

I know where I can find more, I can grab one and bring it if you like.

Bunch of complete bollocks that can be traced to Rand Paul in 2018; c.f. Bush Derangement Syndrome.

Tl;dr, if you disagree with Piggy on anything, you're nuts; for Piggy is always right about anything.

Hi, I'm nuts :-)

At least they ought to have had functioning compasses.

Unlike RMS Tayleur.

Not seen any here.

But, just in case, I've considered the acquisition of long-reach telescopic pruning shears.

Someone forgot to pat the last container loaded.

Then say, "That's not going anywhere."

Dismantling isn't as easy as I thought.

But, I have a Megger BM8/2 insulation tester.

Testing at 1000 volts, it reads open-circuit, measured from the heatsink to 'mains' (both ES contacts shorted.)

So they're not immediately hazardous, at least at present...

Thank you for this perspective. I've thought about getting to know a few rats... but they're not with us for long and that *is* pretty heavy.

On the other hand, they'd be with me their entire life; my responsibility is to make it as interesting, fun, stress-free and pleasant for them as possible.

Ah, an answer-shaped object...
December 12, 2025 at 6:51 PM
That was intended to mean 'switched' in the sense of 'via a single-pole switch' rather than 'transposed'. And 'live' to the threads of the holder, unswitched.

Clarity went out the window editing down to fit the character limit :-)
December 12, 2025 at 6:41 PM
Yeah, I distrust... new stuff, tbh. Living in a land of frisky mains does that. (Often around 245V here.)

I shall be taking them apart. I see screw heads!

(Previously rewired one E27 holder after finding 'neutral' was switched with 'live' straight to the threads. 13A fuse in the plug, too.)

The London to London Link Line. LLLL.

Pronounced as if it's a word, 'llll.'

Unless you're Welsh, then just clear your throat for twice as long as usual...
