This was my first attempt at the rubber hose art style without using bases. I am very fond of the style and wanted to see what one of my OCs would look like in it! It isn’t 100% accurate but I like it After doing some research on it a couple days ago, I tried to simplify the design and colors. So it feels authentic I don’t think Bruce would look the way he does if he was a character around that time period, especially if he was drawn frame-by-frame. Easier to draw when there’s less detail to follow. Cool to think of what a stoat would look like as an anthro back then, they don’t get enough love :( Though the colors aren’t as common for anthro characters during the time as far as I know, I didn’t want to make him entirely unrecognizable either. I matched his personality pretty well imo I’d imagine Bruce would have a loose characterization of Donald Duck—that being his grumpiness—. But would have other traits that’d set him apart from being a “rip-off” during those times. That being his soft spot and kindness for few people and his love for journalism. If he was a 20s-30s cartoon character, his journalistic qualities would be replaced with a taste for mystery/adventure. He’d end up in strange and situational funny situations, a rolled up newspaper would be something he’d have, to whack someone. A subtle way of showing his interests in reading and journalism. And probably a funny gag if done right
