📢 New paper alert! We explored N₂O fluxes in tropical cloud forests of Réunion Island. Soils emit negligible N₂O, and leaves & canopy soil have nirK and nosZ type denitrifiers.

☁️ The canopy #microbiome might help mitigate N₂O.

📢 New paper alert. We explored CH₄ fluxes in tropical cloud forests on Réunion Island.

🌱 Peat soils = CH₄ sinks
🌳 Tree stems = mild CH₄ sinks
🍃 Leaves = potential methanogen hotspots!
☁️ Canopy microbiomes matter more than we thought.

Amazonian deforestation is making wet seasons wetter and dry seasons dryer, according to research in Nature. The analysis highlights the local and regional effects of removing trees from the tropical region. https://go.nature.com/41jCClO 🧪
This is figure 1, which shows simulated contrasting precipitation responses to deforestation at different scales (0–1,000 km) over the Amazon region.

Well, it finally happened to me. Got this in a review (I am a native English speaker).

We can still see it as the Gulf of Mexico. Looks like Apple is feeding this misinformation to the people of the US only.
