It’s important to say that the recent jellyfish invasion at Lough Hyne could have been minimised/mitigated with management of this marine reserve. With no warden on site, there is no active management. That affects everyone who loves this place - swimmers, day-trippers as well as conservationists.
Once described as “a gigantic marine aquarium”, Lough Hyne in Co Cork is facing a barrage of stressors.

Reporter @oliveheffernan.bsky.social investigated this over the past year. She found multiple pressures and lack of management are wreaking havoc on life in the lough.
