Very common in Seattle also. Seem to generally work well

More thoughtful than the 2+ year bike plan MTA put together.

So many other agencies in CA have AI systems to automate the review.

There's no way the cameras on the buses work. Only 15 violations a day? I see that many on one trip down Mission Street

Definitely my experience in SF. The speed hump referenced in the other post is in the Mission one street over from our Slow Street. This is the most dangerous, least effective slow street in the city. City staff have been discussing and promising changes for over 2 years. Too scared to do anything

Also, I think their models are often wrong because SF is a grid with lots of capacity and drivers use nav apps, which adjust routes to less congested ones. But I'm not sure MTA ever revisits their projects to see if their projections were correct.

It was delayed because of a funding gap. MTA Board gave another $900k. I think I remember somewhere MTA staff blaming Caltrans on the cost increases, but not sure. Not a good use of funds IMO.

$13 mm for these 3 blocks, some of which are just getting soft hit posts. A lot of this has to be going towards traffic signal upgrades - feels like a car project as much as a bike project...

Is the trash can still there or removed?
January 17, 2025 at 11:15 PM
Apparently, someone called 911 on the driver at "Slow" 20th and Alabama first because of their dangerous driving. And 20th Street's inadequacy is solely MTA's fault.

Yes. One of 12 in the city closing by end of Feb.

The shift to motor scooters seems to be driven by high interest rates and unaffordability of vehicles. Really wish SF had created policies to move deliveries out of vehicles. That pilot with 16 ebikes was so expensive and doesn't move the needle.

I think the density of the rest of the city "subsidizes" these neighborhoods. For example, they have light rail serving single family neighborhoods, which makes it possible for workers to commute into the businesses easily.
December 28, 2024 at 8:08 PM
They want the density of a city, but the car-centricity of a suburb. What they want is unattainable. That's why they are always so emotional and unreasonable around transportation in SF.

Interesting how residents claim parking is too scarce to repurpose for much needed bike share stations, but now residents claim everything is fine as is. This is why the Marina is set in amber and MTA won't touch it.

Yeah chalking for time limits and stickers for permits no longer exist. It's all license plate and location based.
