I had much fun writing a mini-story and entering it in #50PreciousWords, organized by the indefatigable @viviankirkfield.bsky.social. Now it's fingers crossed while the judges do their thing.

Still amazed by Mac Barnett's first line of text for "Extra Yarn."
Pure poetry:

On a cold afternoon, in a cold little town,
where everywhere your looked was either the white of snow
or the black of soot from chimneys,
Annabelle found a box filled with yarn of every color.

How (IMO) to use AI's deficiencies to improve your PB writing.

Part 2 of 2
ECONOMIZE
AI doesn't compress thoughts with metaphors etc., so after comparing drafts (see Part 1):
a. Notice any overlap of long-windedness.
b. Find a more elegant way of expressing that thought.

How (IMO) to use AI's deficiencies to improve your picture book writing.

Part 1 of 2
PURGE CLICHÉS
AI tends to use generalized text, so you can:
a. Enter a synopsis of your story as a ChatGPT prompt.
b. Compare the result with YOUR story.
c. Eliminate overlap of clichés

I’m gonna be doing this with #SCBWI OK/AK (but it’s open to anyone interested)!

I hope it’ll help #KidLit folks who are new to BlueSky (or haven’t joined yet) more acquainted with the platform, how it works & how features like Feeds can be helpful for our community.
VIRTUAL CHAT, ANYONE?
OK/SCBWI folks! (and anyone else who might like to participate). We're going to get together AGAIN and chat about the how-tos of BlueSky. DM me for the link! #kidlitcommunity #scbwi #okarscbwi

Analysis by Philip Bump | X gives Elon Musk everything he ever wanted: attention, praise, sycophancy, nonsense presented as news reporting, hostility to non-right-wing ideas or arguments, money. Who, he figures, could want anything more?
Analysis | Musk is nearly done destroying what made Twitter Twitter
Musk didn’t buy Twitter. He bought millions of accounts he could repurpose for another app entirely.
