I don’t think you can assume everyone is working with the same level of clarity you are.

It’s not how it should work but that’s what happened. How is the average Reaper pilot supposed to know that the JAG approving it was shuffled around to get a sketchy result?
January 4, 2026 at 5:10 AM
Because this and the other hell site are full of natsec hobbyists who think they can just read substacks of anonymous people who may or may not know what they’re saying and immediately make sweeping claims on everything from brigade combat team task org to ship procurement reform.

I’m not saying it’s morally right or that I agree with it but that’s how it generally works.

JAGs at various levels have decided based of the authorities their commanders were granted that they are legal targets. If it’s not somehow extremely obvious to the servicemember that they are illegal they should be able to assume their orders are legal and coming from the proper authority.

Entire thread is full of people who seem to think unlawful order means “policy I don’t like”.

You win this time 😶‍🌫️

What have you been reading for it?

So the Army making up the assault force made them pretty important…. the lynchpin perhaps…

this may come as a surprise to some people. but the american military is largely better at stuff than the russian military

Is this guy dull or did he miss them try this almost four years ago?

You don’t know what the fuck you’re saying lmao
January 3, 2026 at 8:13 AM
No because the 160th and the Ranger Regiment are actually good at their jobs.

The Army isn’t the Marine Corps so I think we’ll be fine.

You can find it more reliably in Armor Magazine or Line of Departure. For whatever the branch journal articles they post on the Army website often has their links die.

The autonomy on it is cool, but it’s essentially like setting up a mini TOC or TAC and its two chains that can be broken; maneuver unit to UGV op and UGV op to the UGV itself. Better option is stuff like the SMET where the op is in the formation using a controller.
December 31, 2025 at 8:23 PM
Unless the UGV has a way to keep the operator with the actual maneuver element it’s going to slow them down. My unit is buying Overland AI ULTRAs which require a laptop, generator, and Starshield satellite to control it all which limit how much a light infantry company can move with it.

During the Booker Force on Force last year they would go up against Geronimo T-72s in straight up fights and it usually ended in 1 track from either platoon left. All with MILES so take that as you will. Also got told by a Booker NCO that at least to the front they were immune to 30mm autocannons.
December 31, 2025 at 8:11 PM
It weighs a few tons less than a T-72 and during Force on Force testing I know they fought Geronimo T-72s a few times, usually resulting in mutual platoon destruction. Granted that’s all using MILES but I think vs ZTD-05s that are swimming I think the Booker would be fine.

The Panamanians weren’t communists and the Iraqis in 91 weren’t terrorists. This is a generally poor understanding of how the US actually fought which is what your comment was about.
December 27, 2025 at 8:41 PM
It’s because people who make comments like that usually don’t have a good grasp of history. The PAVN was also a conventional army that did the bulk of the fighting vs the US in Vietnam and calling the Grenadians, Panamanians, or Iraqis “amorphous, decentralized, clever” is a joke.

I remember have various Army related versions of this discussion a few months ago and many of these types (none actually in the Army) assuring me the US Army was completely fucked and nothing could be done other than whine about it.
