So, again, thank you everyone for keeping Chuck in your thoughts... we almost lost him earlier this summer and he surprised us by pulling through, and every day since then has been a blessing, but I don't know if that will happen again.

Poor boy could not move at all last night, and with bunnies that means he was... a bit of a mess this morning. (Also means he's missing out on some important, uh, "nutritional supplements" that rabbits have.)

We're considering a wheelchair, but at his age I'm not sure how well he'd be able to […]

Chuck is at the big vet hospital (Red Bank in Tinton Falls, NJ) today getting some therapy - physical therapy, acupuncture, and laser therapy - to try and help his legs and back half mobility issues. The doctor is also going to take a look at him in case she has any other ideas for treatment […]

He's on Metacam (anti-inflamatory) in addition to the Panacur but neither sems to be making any difference.

My wife is at home taking care of him as I had to go away for a few days for work... at this point I just hope he is still there when I get home tomorrow night.

Please keep Chuck in your thoughts tonight and tomorrow... his condition has continued to degrade; he is basically immobile and cannot sit upright or move very much at all... and although he is going into the big vet hospital tomorrow for some therapy we really don't know […]

It breaks my heart to watch Chuck struggle to move - his back legs just don't quite work right, and you can tell he's struggling, trying to get them to move the way he wants.

So the vet thinks Chuck's problems are more likely neurological than physical - no signs of spinal injury or broken bones or anything like that. (This is not a surprise.)

For now we will continue Panacur treatment in case this is a flare up of his E.cuniculi, along with monitoring his blood […]

Got an appointment at our local vet; thankfully they were able to squeeze us in. Here’s hoping there’s something they can do to help Chuck and his legs…

Ugh… unfortunately Chuck’s condition has gone downhill rapidly since yesterday; he really struggles to control his back legs now.

Now we play the game of “what vet can we get him in to see in a hurry on a Saturday,” which is not a fun game at all.

Chuck is doing reasonably well today - bunny cam shows he was fine overnight (used his litter box, ate all his dinner, ate a bunch of hay, was moving around periodically).

This morning his behavior is normal, aside from his back legs clearly just not being as strong as they used to be.

After this, I took his litter box and cut the side down for him until the new litter box with the lower sides arrives tomorrow. Hopefully that helps him. It was good to see him eating so well, though.

@unlambda @BunnyMama Chuck hasn't had X-rays; he had a ton of ultrasounds a few months ago when he was hospitalized for a week for his bladder sludge, but he was "stable" in terms of his mobility until just this week.

@unlambda Thanks - he doesn't seem to be in pain, as he moves around on his own and has a great appetite - he just has weakness in his back legs that make it hard to stand up. We are swapping out his litter box with one with a lower lip, though.

He is able to get up - he will quickly hop away […]
