This brief video shows detailed views of two large black and white prints I recently made on baryta rag photo paper for a client. It explains why I chose this paper and even the pens I use to sign the prints:

I love client printing day! Here’s a little bit of American small town history on the paper with two 16x24” prints going to Utah.

I spent the day driving to and from the mountains of eastern Kentucky so I could spend a few hours shooting abandoned coal mine buildings. This was the power house. Lynch, KY extraordinary location!

I’ve recently been experimenting with Japanese Washi papers for photography prints. Results are mixed but I see possibilities for limited editions…

Fujifilm has been releasing a series of short films with photographers using their new RF. I’ve been watching not because I’m interested in the camera, but to see the filmmaking and storytelling involved. This one with Reuben Wu is one of my favorites: youtu.be/EnOn_JTRsnM?...

I'm sorry to report the passing of Dr. Kevin Smith, an archaeologist and professor. I didn't know him, but his work has been super influential on what I know about the ancient history of my adopted state. Also -- He was almost a year younger than me! www.alexandergallatin.com/obituaries/k...

I recently realized that 2025 marks my 20 year anniversary as a "serious" photographer. Deep in my archive, I discovered this forgotten photo that shows an early preference for abandoned buildings that came to full fruition decades later. Early 90s drugstore print.

No regerts? A North Carolina resident on vacation in Nashville recently opted to have my photograph of a music note tattooed onto his ankle, then followed-up by acquiring a print of the same photograph. Now that's a commitment!
