Makes sense to me. I mean, this year we hosted our annual cinnamon roll extravaganza on Jan 1. You can’t exactly expect “healthy” when baking 23 trays of sugary treats

As an added bonus, the extra volume means the water level drops much less than normal, and if I miss a day, the trunk is still immersed in water instead of dry, so I think the tree should stay greener longer.

I have a small bucket tucked under a branch between the tree and the wall with a flexible piece of clear tubing running into the tree stand. Now instead of awkwardly laying down and filling the stand, I can just pour water into the bucket, up to the fill line I drew with a sharpie.
