Software has always been a very strange entity. It has basically zero marginal cost, and now with the advent of AI, the cost of producing simple applications is essentially zero. We are in a very turbulent time, is it useful to have UX skills? Is taste now all that matters? what about maintenance ?

I feel the terror of the future. Btw, I was taking my QM exams just 10 years ago. I think there is no doubt in my mind that degrees after 2030 will have a completely different meaning from the ones before. www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcQP...

I posted this 5 years ago, and today this is about to be a reality. The IMO 2025 has been solved by AI and it’s open source🐳. AIs are already contributing to cutting-edge math research. AI and formalised proofs are widespread in al echelons of Math.

I was in the Zara in Colombia, and God... so many beautiful women...

People seem to be very excited about Gemini 3, but keep in mind that OpenAI pioneered the AI chat. So Google has been catching up since 2022!, but so has everyone else. Not only there are now about 20 other chats with almost equal capabilities, they are coming from both startups and big tech.

Yesterday I had a very similar experience to Poincaré. I wasn’t able to sleep because I drunk a coffee at night and I was focused for several hours to synthesise my thoughts about evolution as a fundamental law of the universe. It was a coincidence because I read what I needed before going to sleep.

I’ve been casual student of physics for four decades. Why did no one ever explain to me so clearly what a conservation law is?

From Susskind and Hrabovsky (2014) The Theoretical Minimum.

This is why reading basic material from brilliant thinkers is so often worth the investment.

Catholicism is fundamentally pure suffering.

Some people have called me ageist in the past, however if anything I’ve become more ageist as I get older. While I’m not making definitive statements about age, or about things that happen at a specific age. There are certain elements that can’t be denied.

The Keith of 2018-2022 would be appalled by how mainstream my opinion on LLMs and AI has become… The capabilities of LLMs completely changed my mind, I used to argue for alternative architectures, new math, new algorithms, a complete change of framework… but no longer, it may have to do with age…

Sailed for the first time, little wind… not suuuper fun, but I’m amazed, it’s one of the few activities with an unbalanced female/male ratio. I think it was roughly 3/1. Maybe a complete fluke…

Vacations are over, very mixed feelings when telling people how things went… It will take time to process everything by myself. I mean, almost everything was like a dream…

Update #9.5: Grape picking in a vineyard in Tuscany. The ultimate dream… unless you have a meltdown… Vacations started badly and ended terribly, this seems to be a pattern… This will be one very difficult to process, because I feel I was wounded quite badly…

Update #9.0: Saturday Market, Tarot reading of the future, lunch at a terrace overlooking the valle and sunset in a stunning location. Somehow under the sunset light everything shows its true nature... I just never expected it was going to be so ominous… the message was grape danger…

Update #8: Eating even more fish, improv in our terrace, eating under the moonlight, movie night, stargazing in a mountain, nudist beach, chanting session and a lot of fun. I’m so happy spending time here with my friends that I didn’t feel compelled to travel anywhere else… It’s been that fun!!!

Update #7: Hiking on the coast of the Mediterranean, crossing waters in a boat, watching stunning landscapes, swimming in an Italian beach town, and eating calamari and fried sardines. All of this while getting to know an amazing group of friends, very intellectually stimulating, and very playful...

Update #6: Chilling on the beach, beautiful Mediterranean town, playing beach volleyball, and of course Italian coffee. Only perk, I’ve been eaten alive by mosquitos the past few days. Also, I actually worked yesterday, funnily enough !

Update #5: Survived the night in the Forest, learned a lot of survival skills, ate a bunch of cheese, and had Sunday night dinner at a Pizzeria. Taking care of the fire during the night in the forest felt like stepping into a dark realm, like a fever-dream... also, Italian people are very colorful.

Update#4: More Italian delis, surfing in the Mediterranean, and surviving in the Italian wilderness. It’s been a complete blast so far! The Italian forest reminds me a lot of California. The weather is apparently the same. Also It seems to be a really cool combination to be Colombian and Scottish!

Update #3: Finally had My “Ichnusa non-filtrata”, a san peregrino, a pizza, went to an Italian supermarket. The san peregrino tasted as when first arrived to the UK, it doesn’t taste like that anymore… the pizza was great, specially the doe. The supermarket was like a kid in a candy store, amazing!!

Update #2: Super great time, went to the beach, cooked with friends, hiking, went to the aquarium, and even drove twice in Genova and la Spezia. Naturally eat good food! Although I’m a pretty rusty driver…, also I should be working more haha 😅

Update on vacations: Actually, it's been absolutely great so far! I met an old friend that I hadn't seen in person for years, amazing Italian end of summer weather, beautiful Italian Tuscany plus medieval city, only perk so far: I forgot my plug converter from UK to EU... got it already, €8...

Vacations up to a bad start, this is never a good sign… anyways I solved the problems… money always solves the problem or at least it helps a lot…
September 7, 2025 at 9:12 AM
After a few very tough months, I got some good news... My summer was a complete dread, except for a sliver of happiness at the beginning. I think the end is going to be a banger as well. Let's come back in two weeks and see...
