Did that include RoG's famous oration in the La Rochelle changing room?

"Lord" can just be the title of office, similar to "Senator". They do not use it after leaving office but outside the Chamber are addressed as everyone else - Mr, Mrs etc. That way the rest of us can ignore their silly feudal nomenclature.

Oh FFS I had hoped this cadaverous twerp had exited public life to spend quality time with his money.

Wonder how long before this applies to US citizens, applicants for any government job, military recruitment, eligibility for state benefits.....And then the corporations will cave and follow the leader, mortgage applications, loans, employment.....

One does not have to be a climate scientist to conclude Trump is a fucking moron.

At its most basic level: Loudly declaring oneself to be a pacifist will not stop a yob punching you in the face. The yob knowing he will get a punch in return is a greater deterrent. Fact of life.

Completely agree. The purpose of an economy is to provide people the security to live their best lives. The purpose of economics is to find a way to make it happen, not to exclude social hopes because they do not fit easily into duff algebra equations.

Good list. I would add no donations from UK citizens who are not tax resident in the UK.

Maybe if we just shout it more loudly, our mantra may not have reached Moscow.

Nigel, are these friends in the room with us now?
December 4, 2025 at 5:00 PM
To those of us outside the Westminster bubble this is a non-story. Analysis of long and short term effects of the budget on individuals is far more important and what we want to hear about.

Sorry we were not with you as you stormed the beaches on D Day (or were you involved in the Italian campaign?), would think at your age you would be over it by now.

Ireland joining the allied side in WWII would have added nothing millitarily. UK/US would have had to divert resources to protect Ireland and equip any Irish forces. Feel free to be similarly outraged by Sweden, Spain and Portgual also being neutral in WWII.

TBF Warner was equivocal at best about Brexit.

By Americans to Americans. An outcome some of Hegseth's chums seem to have forgotten.

Although the US military has a pretty apalling record of mistreating prisoners of war from Andersonville to Abu Ghraib. None of it deterred the other side.

That is certainly a better way to proceed than the nonsense Labour are contemplating.

Could do. Although while the company has a UK site it is a European company, it will keep the factory in Belfast as long as the UK buys from it. One of the reasons the UK forces are in shit state - the MOD is used as a job creation scheme.

I am not sure Ireland will be buying weapons from British industry, even the British MoD are not that mad.

I doubt this is a surprise to anyone. What has always been surprising to me is that there were so many barristers willing to participate in it.

All true. Reasons the loud declarations of neutrality are so empty.
