...felt reactionary. They thought Green politics were stupid / pointless, were bigoted against LGBTQIA+ ppl and migrants. I suspect some of the ppl I used to go to meetings with now vote Reform. I no longer wanted to be part of that.

...thinking, I thought socialism was supposed to be Internationalist, that solidarity was intersectional. (This was all around the lead-up to and aftermath of Brexit, etc). I think, around then, I stopped identifying as a socialist. Like you said: it felt like an outdated paradigm. My 'comrades'...

I left my union back in the 2010s after 30 years because they started railing against foreign / migrant workers - "British jobs for British workers" style rhetoric - I had Polish friends who they wanted to throw under the bus. And all this, sadly, in lockstep with Corbyn's office. I started...

There's a strand of transphobia /TERFiness among some old socialists, sad to say. I've witnessed it when I used to be involved in local politics. A handful of them were still vocal homophobes and had reactionary values straight out of the 70s while banging on about solitarity and Cable Street :-(

I am an ME / CFS survivor: 4 years of it from 1999 to 2003 / 4, when it began to fade. Most people have no idea how awful, pernicious and life-shrinking it is. Crippling mental health problems on top of debilitating physical symptoms. I get furious when people dismiss it with, 'not a real illness'.
