He's right, University degrees aren't enough anymore, employers want people with skills under their belt: former interns and exchange students. Typically, rich kids.

Uni is "worth it" if you can access the experiences only money can buy.

The survey responses were self reported and included questions like "Do you belong to a social web-site such as BEBO, FACEBOOK or MYSPACE?"!?!?!

Imagine asking 15 year olds in 2018 if they use Bebo or MySpace.

Yes, it finds that social media use relates to decreased life satisfaction. But the researchers acknowledge this relationship is a two way street.

Does social media lead to decreased life satisfaction, or does decreased life satisfaction lead to social media use?

I *think* I found it. This article on social media use and life satisfaction of 14,409 participants between 2011 - 2018.

But how it's represented in the Explanatory Memorandum isn't the whole picture...

2. A 2024 UK study of 15,836 people aged 16+ that found "no evidence of an association between the frequency of viewing social media and mental health problems in the following year." (although frequent posting was associated with poorer mental health outcomes).
