I have a new poem out this week in On Gaia Literary Magazine. "Totem" was a difficult poem to write and to release into the world as it speaks to painful childhood moments that I was good at masking with a smile.

We can't afford to lose people who are shining a light.

Saddened to hear of the death of the great Dame Patricia Routledge. Thank you for the laughs and great characters. Keep answering that slimline phone, Hyacinth Bucket (Bouquet).

Grateful and delighted for my micro essay "Anthurium" published by Libre to receive a nomination for Best of the Net. You can read it here.

One of the reasons that art endures is because it has timeless messages that continue to speak to us. The prints of Kollwitz and their meanings about the dangers of hate are as relevant today as ever. I hope you find meaning in reading about these prints.

I'm excited to have my poem "Memento Mori" published this week by Phil Lit. It's a slightly creepy poem about pianos and metronomes. Enjoy, and please read the entire wonderful issue at simplebooklet.com/phillitfall2...
Memento mori

left right, click clack
marks the metronome.
hands once young,
now foxed and lined
keep time on keys
of black and white.
mind the pendulum
for entrance then exit.
keep in time, ceaseless.

If you watched this in church youth group, I hope, like me, that you have a good therapist.

Cue the song, "We wish we'd all been ready."

I saw enough films in youth group to be a good target for this joke.

That's a lot of work they are wanting that B flat to do. But ok.

After a hellish week, I knew what I had to say to my husband. "Let's go grab a greasy cheeseburger and fries for dinner." Amen. Thanks be to God.

I like this life hack. I need to think how I can use it.

I literally thought we had exhausted the supply of fresh hell but obviously not. 😭

It's hard to know how we are supposed to keep going about our lives with all this constant shite.
