#Teach180 Day 53 cont.
Physics did a balanced forces lab based on @kellyoshea.bsky.social. They start off calling every force a force of gravity but end up with good results. All you need are the push pull scales, balances that can read in Newtons and some mystery masses. 🧪🎢

A lot of #iTeachPhysics folks use them to build the first model that students encounter: constant velocity motion. I find students enjoy it, because it’s easy enough to grasp, and it’s a hands-on experiment they can do right away. (1/2)

Building the Constant Velocity Model
Here’s a binder. And the handshake. [As they walk in, I’m handing out their binders (with materials, labeled dividers, spare graph paper, their names on the sides) and shaking their han…

I'm assuming you wrote it so that it was facing the direction to eat the billionaires? Which seems fine, tbh.

Oh sorry I never responded! I take the quiz and make copies of my solutions. I do the kid quizzes on color paper and mine on white paper to reduce how often they are correcting off of other kids. They leave pencils at their seat when they finish the quiz and go to the back lab table where I have...

I miss PLC so much. ❤️

I think this was probably someone else, though I also like this idea. I use @fnoschese.bsky.social 's solutions-in-the-back-of-the-room with colored pens (and also stickers) at the end of each quiz so they can write notes and questions for me right away. (Not grade—just continue the convo with me)

This is a perfect description of the year I've been having. Thank you. I needed this post this morning.

I've never done modified atwood. I used to do pulling with springs at a school that had equipment for that. I've been doing fan carts since then. It's a lot more direct, I think, so lower cognitive load as they do the experiment and make sense of things?
