The answer you are looking for is either Yes, No, Maybe or 42 - choose wisely
So that is the Atlantic losing all credibility then.

It is very unlikely that would make a difference to US government or US media. Protests would be dismissed as cranks or locally motivated. Strong likelihood such protests would even be considered a success by the USA.

The British likely can't if it's contrary to American interests given the sourcing of their nukes and associated infrastructure

Return to full blown state terrorism, with implications for international travel (do you want a foreign airline flying planes around your population centres?)

Not just nukes. Absent effective rules based order, chemical and biological weapons are back in the table as well.

The problems identified in this case could be mitigated by the UKIPO having a more rigorous registration process and having a less antagonistic means of resolving IP disputes in the first instance.

The current system arguably benefits IP lawyers more than IP owners (especially small ones)

Sorry, it isn't intended to be a criticism of UKIPO in this case.

Just an observation that public pressure, in this case and others as noted in the article, played a significant role in the outcome. This isn't a good example of the system working, in my view.
December 4, 2025 at 6:08 PM
Agreed that IP was likely granted improperly.

From the article: "As public pressure grew, the tone behind the scenes began to shift."

Indicates a settlement occurred due to public pressure, not solely due to the merits of the claim.

Claims shouldn't rely on public pressure to succeed of fail.

I'd disagree. Resolution occured after one party escalated via a public campaign, that was then subject to public responses by third parties.

If the IP system had worked properly it would have been resolved by legal letters and a possible court case.

It still seems like a solution in search of a problem.

Betteridge's law of headlines says no. Rather sad to see Channel 4 using immigration as clickbait though. I thought you had standards?
