What some people aren’t factoring into their analysis is the reality that companies were buying tons of inventory to beat the tariffs.
That’s cash taken from being able to invest or hire. In fact the probably cut costs and jobs as a result.

If you think this can’t happen, remember that of the 125,000 Japanese Americans who were interned during WWII for years without charge or trial, two-thirds were U.S. citizens. Including me.

I had no idea COVID shots are now rejected by 95% of the population, and that 80% don't take a flu shot. My wife and I are fairly healthy, but get both since we're frequent travelers. We've also found both to be quite effective.
𝟓% of US adults have gotten updated COVID-19 shot
𝟐𝟎% have gotten updated flu shot
𝟐𝟐% have gotten both
𝟓𝟑% have gotten neither

Today is World Down Syndrome Day, and Donald Trump and the Republican Party are celebrating it with a landmark move to defund special education. GOP advocacy for persons with Down syndrome can't cease at birth, as their education is no less important than children living without a disability.

@lindseyboylan.bsky.social heard you on CNN while driving, excellent job. I’m hopeful that as more people hear you and others speak, they’ll understand Andrew Cuomo is not a decent man worthy of public office.

Rachel is correct, and Democrats need to stand ten toes down on core American values. Don't be bullied into accepting it's radical to advocate for:
•Feeding Children and the Poor
•Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
•LGBTQ+ Rights
•Economic Opportunity For All
•Budgets Balanced with Fairness
–etc.
Republicans have an ecosystem to foment outrage and derision for our every move, so as people still capable of shame, we shrink from risk. We need to steel ourselves against the criticism of those who will hate us no matter what and who shoved their own values down the garbage disposal. F ‘em!
One thing you really see every day is the different risk appetites between MAGA-era Republicans and Democrats. Basically compulsive, reckless, dangerous constant risk-seeking, versus almost comical levels of risk-aversion.

Here's an idea: help endangered Congressional Democrats keep their seats, and on replacing Republicans with Democrats in winnable districts. That's more effective than harassing fellow progressives about selling their Tesla. Focus on real issues.
March 5, 2025 at 10:38 PM
I've witnessed some pretty idiotic protests over the years, but none as silly as demanding Tesla owners sell our cars. Many of us went EV for the environment, but now we should eat thousands of dollars to give a middle finger to the richest man on the planet? Attack the opposition, not your ally.

What a fantastic way to close out Black History Month. Thanks to the SD Black Chamber and SD Biz Journal for an evening celebrating Black leadership in San Diego, and thanks to my wife and the team at Mister A’s for the post-event surprises. Friends, family, and community love — my heart is full.

Thanks to @johnbull.wtf and @megalu.bsky.social, I've found my Sacramento Kings tribe on Bluesky! I'm still learning my way around after 16 years of heavy use on the other platform. I've never been a 24/7 breathless politics guy, I love talking Kings (and more)! bsky.app/starter-pack...

Attended my local Democratic club meeting today, and for all the jokes about local political clubs, it was a great time. There was no doom and gloom, simply an analytical look back to see how we can best move forward. It’s time to get up off the mat!

Don't allow yourself to remain in a state of anger, it will damage your health. Well-meaning friends may send you messages with links to stories or videos expressing outrage, don't consume all of it. Daily attacks are new for some of you, and one key to survival is to not absorb it all.

Happy Birthday Rosa Parks (1913-2005)!🎉 I'm grateful for the life I live due to brave American patriots like Mrs. Parks. Today we celebrate Black History Month with the 1998 poem "Rosa" by Rita Dove (1952-), a Pulitzer Prize winning author and the first Black Poet Laureate of the United States.

We all have triggers, and it's OK to politely tell a friend, coworker, or family member "I'd rather not discuss that topic." In times like these, always prioritize your personal mental health.

In Matthew 25:34-40, Jesus says what we do for the least among us we do for him. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. gave his life fighting for striking Memphis sanitation workers. As we reflect on Dr. King’s life ask yourself: are you for the garbageman or the oppressor? #MLKDay

Historical note for MAGA, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott, and Donald Trump: shortly after Republican Richard Nixon was elected to his second term, Harry Truman (a Democrat) passed away. President Nixon ordered a 30 day mourning period, resulting in flags being flown half-staff at his own inauguration.

There are several excellent restaurants on this list, and we’ve eaten at most of them. However, any “best” list of San Diego restaurants, especially one with 38 names, isn’t legit without mentioning Mister A’s. It just tells me they haven’t visited since the 2021 remodel.
