No question. But I believe that time adds valued perspective. Dances With Wolves beat Goodfellas for 1990 Best Picture. Now that seems ridiculous.

IMO the whole point of the five-year wait is to take a fresh look at a player's record. All-Star bids and MVP voting doesn't mean much to me.
