How did you find The Changeling? I have it on my TBR list!

Watching the new episode of Great British Bake Off and treating myself to some takeout after work! 😊

Someone is clearly anxious about being in trouble for something they did not mean to do. I would rather have people asking for advice than saying fuck it and throwing out the book or being too afraid of the consequences to return to the library. 😕

FYI, TW for this book: SO much gore, just OODLES of gore. Medieval horror indeed!

No, it doesn't prevent me, but I do consider what I'm writing (especially when the author is still alive) and I try not to be mean or cruel. I stick to sharing what I did or did not personally enjoy and generally refrain from commenting on the author's skill or capacity directly.

Honestly same. I read pretty exclusively on my kindle for a few years and then switched back to physical books because it just just isn't the same. I am a monster who underlines and takes notes and doing it digitally just isn't the same.

Finished reading The Haunting of Hill House today and wow, I was riveted! Yes, it was frightening (I made the sensible choice to only read it during the day), but not exceedingly so. I also didn't expect to relate so much to the main character.

Oh, Nell, my Nell...

I have read that one as well! Truly a classic and stunningly written. Honestly may be time about time for a re-read 🤔

I have read Carmilla! Definitely a fascinating story. Melmoth is new to me though, I'm adding it to my TBR! (What a tome tho, StoryGraph says 700 pages 😳. I'm up for the challenge!)

I was pretty well in your shoes until I was roped into (by my own incorrigible curiosity) watching Nosferatu (2024). I was so enthralled by the cinematography and atmosphere that I decided to give the whole genre another try, now knowing what I might be missing.

Right? I'm very lucky to have a fiancé who alpha reads my work and lets me know what he finds confusing or ambiguous, but sometimes I can't decide if I want this or that left ambiguous...

We just had a long conversation so it's just all simmering in my brain right now. We'll see what comes out!

Rather a disappointing read, unfortunately. I probably should have checked other reviews before I dove in.

In the words of Paul Hollywood: "All style, no substance."

Another StoryGraph fan checking in! I switched over from Goodreads and I actually use StoryGraph way more often.
