Is this law as well thought out as their recall legislation? Maybe competing parties can just change the spelling slightly, say the "Progressive Connservative" party, leading to loud complaints about how the opposition has weaponized the good faith attempt of the govt. to lessen confusion.

In video games, killing indiscriminately is often a rewarding strategy.

She has now repeated this several times. She believes that common law, constitutional law, and human rights should be subordinate to the will of elected officials. Tyranny of the first-past-the-post representative is a good thing in her world.

And now they want to permanently cancel all peak hour express busses! This council may think of themselves as "transit oriented", but they don't seem to have much understanding of the issues faced by people who ride the bus. I guess Calgary will go back to building more roads.

The Puristans are every bit as grim as the Puritans from which they take their name.

A timely reminder for any Venezuelans who might think that cooperating with American occupiers will result in gratitude.

Even if a solar panel is putting out a small amount of energy, when it backfeeds the grid it goes through the same transformer that gives your household voltage. Going backwards steps the voltage up to very high levels that can easily kill someone even though the energy is small.

This is a legitimately serious concern, but your guest was emphatic about the systems being unable to form an island (the inverter only works if it connects to a functioning grid), so the safety is dealt with by the inverter. Tinkerers must not use island forming inverters or they could cause harm.

Not just a big-city problem, but always the expectation is for city councils to solve the problem. They simply don't have the resources to do much more than apply a cosmetic covering to make "tax payers" feel safe again.

Smith will go further down this road. At a presser last week she said that it was undemocratic for judges to make decisions that could not be overruled by the legislature. That is to say that not just charter rights, but all constitutional and common law can be overruled by electeds. A grave danger.
