In Vancouver a couple of weeks ago the International Cartographic Association formally withdrew the 2027 conference from Tel Aviv due to the ongoing situation. It ratified Poland to take its place. Frying pan. Fire 🤦

Next time you go to the #Smithsonian Air and Space museum check out this fantastic [my word] flight map on a new exhibit. I made it years ago. The museum asked to use it. No way was I rejecting the opportunity of having a map in the Smithsonian!

The shape of the River Wear is not even close to that of the River Tyne but even more baffling is the labels. Must have been added manually because they don't even exist in those relative positions. Sunderland's Stadium of Light on it too 🤦 Unbelievable! www.bbc.com/news/article...

Our final talk slot of the day was handed to the entertaining Ken Field who bought us maps, music and a tour around his beloved hometown of Nottingham.
At least one thing we all agreed to in the room was that not all maps need a north arrow

It's been 35yrs since I worked at BGS when I vowed never to be a cartographer. Technically, I've never had a job with 'cartographer' in the title so I kinda held myself to that promise. Good to be back today for #carto2025 though.
