@levgrossman.com has created this century’s Arthurian text. All others will be compared to this epic work of fantasy, heart, and grit. A story about faith and becoming who we were always meant to be, with the heart of a hero. Possibly THE contender for the @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social #booksky

Faulknerian & gothic. Apocalyptic, yet brimming w/ hope. @kaychronister.bsky.social’s novel is a primal description of the bonds—& shackles—of family & the spaces we’re born—& trapped—in. This one ranks as truly unforgettable: worthy of any award you can name. #booksky @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social

Like slipping into a hot spring, @yangszechoo.bsky.social’s novel envelops its readers in a sense of warmth and comfort, in another world. A fantastical murder mystery with bonds of love you can’t help but root for: come get lost in it so you can be found. @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social #booksky

@samtasticbooks.com has created a moving tale of redemption and second chances, set in a world torn by fascist theocracy. A master at storytelling, but also a teller whose timing couldn’t be better. A must read & a worthy contender for the @worldfantasy2025.bsky.social #booksky

With a vividly described landscape, a strong female lead, and a beautiful gay love story, @naominovik.bsky.social has produced another amazing story. A gem of a novella! #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

A picture truly is worth 1k words in this brilliantly illustrated graphic novel about a world in peril. When the boundary between magic and science is breached, anything can happen—and likely will! This one is a visual ⚡️ strike that packs a punch to the heart, and reminds us what humanity means.

I only discovered Bennett recently, but my love of these characters and their world is fervent. Ana and Din once again find the fate of the empire resting on their shoulders as they try to solve a string of vicious murders. A truly masterful story! Can’t wait for book 3! @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

Picked up this book @captainbluehen.bsky.social. Biography, psychology, & history intricately connect to tell of Dr. Wertham’s crusade to destroy comics. Schechter & @eric-powell-comics.bsky.social have created a powerful story about the evil of good intentions. A must-read for fans of comics.

Take the fascism of “1984” and put it on an “unusual” alien planet, and you have another blockbuster by @aptshadow.bsky.social. Once again, he displays his incredible ability to imagine new and fascinating forms of life, nestled within (IYKYK) a thrilling story. @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

“The Tainted Cup” is hands down one of the best books I’ve ever read. While it does, at times, lean more into its murder mystery than into its fantastical elements, it’s absolutely a contender for the Hugo Award (& the 2025 World Fantasy Award)! 💛💛💛 #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

This is a great story of normal people caught in abnormal circumstances, written with tremendous style & heart. At the same time, it tries too hard to also be a thriller and a romance, with the sci-fi taking a backseat. A must-read, but not a Hugo winner (IMO). #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

If Asimov had written “Six Characters In Search of an Author,” this is what it would have read like. This, and @aptshadow.bsky.social’s moral themes about how people treat people in a world of automata, makes this novel a major contender for this year’s Hugo! #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

Not since Lessing or Garcia Marquez have I found an author who packs such a vast story into a relatively compact size. These works made my heart race as I read their final pages. (& “Clear” made my ❤️ sing!) Davies should be read and celebrated by a wide audience! #booksky @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social

This masterful retelling of the Labors of Heracles is the perfect springboard for this allegorical novel of pain, rage, and found family. Fresh from winning the Nebula Award, @wiswell.bsky.social’s second book will break your heart, then heal your entire being. A+

Congratulations to @wiswell.bsky.social for winning the 2025 Nebula Award for Best Novel! There were five truly worthy contenders this year, but this novel’s story of queer love and healing from childhood trauma spoke to me on a personal level (& it’s a great read!)! @huxleyandhiro.bsky.social
