Then it just hangs on this screen until you turn off the VCR.

There's something incredibly sad about a VHS tape telling you to go buy the DVD.

Kantai Collection makes a lot more sense when you learn Japan has been drawing battleship girls since the 1930s. Pictured: The battlecruiser turned battleship Haruna (1937), the Mogami class cruiser "Kumano" (1937), & the Japanese Battleship Hyuuga.

What happened to Big Heads in Anime? They barely do it anymore. I want the biggest, goofiest, most insane Bobble headed characters that only anime can provide.

This scrapped character from Resident Evil 2 resembles Asamiya Saki from Sukeban Deka. Deliberate reference, or just cool motorcycle clothes?

Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is still one of the prettiest anime I've ever seen. The color palette has rich earthy tones that make the world feel real.

Ponyo came out on VHS in 2008, & the last VCR ever produced was made in 2016. This messes with my perception of time like you wouldn't believe.

I don't get it. Everyone loves anime. Everyone loves Mad Max. NOBODY talks about Fist of the North Star. What the HELL is going on? It doesn't add up.

If you liked an anime character in the 90's, you'd often dedicate a site to them. We called these "shrines". On rare occasions, a character was so great, a memorial was erected instead. A digital tombstone to honor their memory. I still think about Wizardmon even today.

Someone should travel to Italy, take pictures of all the street art, & then make a book out of it. Then when they're done, there should be a 5 hour documentary about how it affected the people there. Of all the countries, Italy might love anime the most.

Satoshi Tajiri is a fan of Minky Momo. When he drew a picture of her in the fanzine Game Freak, Ken Sugimori (a stranger) said, "This is how she should be drawn!" & drew a picture of her in someone else's book, which is how he met Tajiri. Thus, Minky Momo caused Pokemon to happen.

This was the ONE anime they wouldn't let me buy at Suncoast video. You could get whatever sicko series you want, but they took one look at Nanako & went "yeah gonna need an I.D. for this". I ended up buying it at Bestbuy across the street, but I'll never forget that interaction.

No idea who produced it exactly, but cursory google searches show there was a DVD at some point (or at least a mockup), implying it was well preserved & lent out/sold at some point.

Thinking about the Rankin Bass Style stop motion short about the Atomic Bombing of Hiroshima again. I believe it can be borrowed from a few libraries in Japan (It's an educational film), but most people would call that "Lost Media" wouldn't they? Source is Okori-jizō (1983)

I just noticed they messed up these lights. Looks like Bubblegum Crisis is ruined forever now. Pack it up boys. It's over.

I like that the entire internet saw the net slum from .hack & went "I want 1000 Youtube animations & indie games based off this one concept". Incredibly important game.

Bam Margera had a pretty sick VHS editing station.

Can't tell if I'm getting more popular on this site, or just the only voice in an empty room.

My video about the Japanese Dogs that fight Bears just blew up for the most horrifying reason.

Just found out about Takahata/Miyazaki's cancelled Pippi Longstalking anime. We were robbed.
